In 2005, Lloyd's Register-Fairplay set up a Maritime Events Division with the twin aims of both developing and organising its own high-quality international conferences, seminars and also of creating partnerships with associations to manage established events on their behalf.

We have already created two successful Fairplay Awareness Briefings which are more informal than regular seminars in that facilitators and presenters give a short overview of issues within a topical subject and then interact with the other attendees to create a dynamic forum around the auditorium for debate and discussion and for the exchange of ideas, solutions to problems etc.

Additionally, we organised the 5th Congress of the International Harbour Masters' Association in Malta, which was the most successful Congress to date and took place to critical acclaim. The next in the series is scheduled for 2008 in St Petersburg.

The newly-acquired MariChem Middle East Conference will take place in Dubai on 3rd-4th September and will again seek to examine issues concerning Middle Eastern petrochemical and plastics producers and logistics providers as they strive together to deliver expanding exports to global markets.

The SASMEX Safety at Sea and Marine Equipment Exhibition was held on 24-25th April 2007. As well as the exhibition, the vent included several high-quality seminars on subjects such as Regulation and Security, as well as the Safety at Sea International Awards. SASMEX 2008 will be held on 16-17th April 2008.
