Co-operation with Hydrographic Offices

National Hydrographic Offices are the source of all digital data produced and distributed by C-MAP. C-MAP respects copyrights on nautical charts and pays royalties to Hydrographic Offices.

Support of system manufacturers and end users

Support of manufacturers and end users is aimed at solving the problems related to the implementation and distribution of digital chart data in compliance with IMO and IHO specifications. Over 90 system manufacturers world wide can read and display C-MAP digital chart data.

Every process and procedure carried out by C-MAP, from production to the maintenance and updating of nautical charts, is compliant with the highest international standards.

Professional Chart Database

C-MAP has the worlds largest commercially available electronic chart database. The C-MAP CM-93/3 database is a vectorised database based on paper charts from national Hydrographic Offices and can be used as an aid to navigation on the majority of Electronic Chart Systems (ECS) and Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS).

Electronic Navigational Charts

C-MAPs digital catalogue is a tool to display the total chart coverage available and simplify the task of selecting and ordering charts for a user specified route.

C-MAP Ocean View is a geographic information program designed to display in detail all charts in C-MAP databases. Using these charts as a basis, the program can propose the shortest, economic and safe route for a specific vessel. Included in the program are such features as weather overlay, manual route checking and planning as well as a detailed port database.

Real Time Updating

Optimal safety of navigation at sea can be achieved when updated information is available on the bridge of a vessel at any time. Using the latest developments in vessel communication systems C-MAP has developed a Real Time Updating (RTU) service that significantly simplifies the logistics of chart updating, making this task quick, accurate, consistent and secure.
